Job title: Product Manager – Outdoor Living & Furniture Innovation
Location of Employment: Vietnam (or South East Asia)
As the Product Manager Outdoor Living & Furniture Innovation, you are responsible for handling projects related to the outdoor furniture assortment for European DIY market, work closely with Product Designers in coordination with the Category Management.
You have experience in product development for outdoor furniture and know the retail sourcing market. You also possess strong negotiating skills, excellent communication skills, and a high level of commitment to your job. You have experience and can transform the ideas of the product designer and develop the product together with the factories.
You will be based primarily in Vietnam, near the relevant factories. You will report to the Category Manager based in Hong Kong and will collaborate closely with the Lead Office & Sourcing in Vietnam on disciplinary matters.
- Responsible for development of new outdoor furnitures, and other Garden Products in cooperation with the category management and external product designers.
- Market Research: Understand market trends and customer preferences in their product assortment and identify product opportunities.
- Transform the ideas and develop the new product together with suitable factories.
- Product Selection & Development: Choose new products, innovations. Works with country hubs on innovations, and helps the Category Manager with the presentation of the offers in a structured way to the countries and to the European customers.
- Supplier Negotiation & Relationship: Negotiate terms of purchase, delivery, and payment with suppliers. Identifying and reducing risks in the supply chain, establish close relationship with suppliers (e.g. factory visits)
- Price Setting: Help to find competitive pricing for products in the category, considering factors like cost, market trends, and profitability.
- Packaging and Sustainability: Responsible for optimizing packaging, shipping volume, and related measures to market the products sustainably in collaboration with Sustainability Team.
- Product Assortment & Data Management: In charge of ensuring that product, assortment, and supplier data is up-to-date and accurately entered into IT systems, and that all requests and quotes are accessible in online systems.
- In charge of meeting sales and margin goals for the specified product range.
- Arranging and following up on buying and sourcing trips before and after the visits for both individual and country buyers.
- Industry-specific experience on Outdoor furniture, especially related to the European DIY market is required. Experience in sourcing retail products or working for a retailer is highly valuable.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product management, sourcing, or procurement.
- Education (Bachelor degree or comparable) in a relevant field such as Supply Chain Management, Procurement or Marketing is preferred.
- Ability to travel when required (mainly in South East Asia)
- Team player with excellent communication & presentation skills in English (fluent, must) and also Vietnamese (preferable). Effective communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Excellent knowledge of the local production markets in the assigned markets, familiar with EU test standards & product compliance.
- Solid knowledge of factory operations & product development.
- Able to develop new products and innovations together with the factory.
- A good understanding of the market and customer needs and preferences, along with analytical skills. Must be able to conduct market research, analyze data, and assess the impact and value of your product. Using data to drive sourcing decisions.
- Creativity skills: Able to create new and creative ideas for the assigned product range. Ability to think outside the box, experiment with different solutions, and make changes based on feedback.
- Project Management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively and handling challenges and tight deadlines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments (e.g., Category Management, logistics). Communicate location-independently with a team in multiple countries and locations.
- Excellent IT & computer skills (Windows or macOS): Work in a modern work environment and able to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
- Cultural Awareness: Understanding various European markets and customers, as well as different Asian cultures.
- Integrity: Following the Code of Conduct's requirements without limitations and upholds ethical standards.
